HMS Scylla

HMS Scylla is a former Royal Navy frigate which was scuttled in Whitsand Bay in 2004 to create Europe's first artificial diving reef.

Marine life was quick to inhabit it and now almost every square inch of the wreck is covered in a healthy and profuse carpet of colour. This makes her a perfect dive for underwater photographers as the deck is in about 12 metres and that is where there is most life and light. The seabed is approx 24 metres and there is usually very little current.

The sad part is that the MOD dump dredged material from the dockyard nearby in Whitsand Bay and this affects the visibility considerably.
